Onstream Pipeline Inspection Services Inc. is a provider of Inline and Tethered MFL inspection services to oil and gas pipeline operators, currently servicing the North American market. Onstream is now accepting applications for the position of Technical Writer at our Calgary location.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Make high-quality comprehensive documentation that meet organizational standards
  • Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success
  • Develop and maintain a master document register for new documents and reference materials
  • Research and collect usability feedback through collaboration with technical staff
  • Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications
  • Any other duties as assigned

Education
• Technical Writing Certificate, or Degree/Diploma in a relevant field
• 5+ years of experience as an effective Technical Writer
• 3+ years of experience in technical writing of either ILI or FAT documentation

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Background in pipeline industry or engineering (asset)
  • Ability to translate highly technical information into easily understandable information for internal end-users
  • Experience working with engineering teams to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
  • Creative skills and usage of photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills (English), with a keen eye for detail
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Adobe, and experience with technical writing software (EASY preferred)
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with eye for prioritization
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-regulated with a strong sense of pride in one’s work
