Onstream Pipeline Inspection is a provider of Inline and Tethered MFL inspection services to oil and gas pipeline operators, currently servicing the North American market. Due to continued growth in the USA, Onstream is now accepting applications for the position of Operations Manager – USA (based in Houston, TX).

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager – USA will oversee the Operations and Shop teams working safely and delivering reliable and accurate pipeline inspection results which exceed our valued customers’ expectations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversees personnel, trucks, and tools for all projects (tether and free-swimming inline inspections)
  • Ensures appropriate number of staff, personnel training and equipment for projects
  • Leads operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational, safety and personnel policies
  • Client liaison on projects, in collaboration with Sales Team and Project Manager
  • Manage and oversee the Shop, including:
  • Helping maintain equipment and inventory
  • Helping direct workflow and personnel concerns
  • Ensures completion of projects within time and budget constraints
  • Understands and implements all related Government Legislations
  • Ensures adherence to all quality and safety standards within field work
  • Applying pipeline technical assessment competencies, including:
  • Assessing pipeline feasibility for inspection
  • Identifying and mitigating risks related to inspection
  • Working closely with client to recommend operating parameters to obtain a successful inspection
  • Making go-no-go call on gauge tool runs
  • Handling after hours calls with minimal support from Director of Operations – USA
  • Making recommendations based on changing pipeline conditions once staff reach the field
  • Strong knowledge on pipeline hardware and configurations
  • Oversee Operations Administration
  • Reviewing paperwork with crew prior to field departure
  • Reviewing completed paperwork and forwards to Analysis upon completion of project
  • Preparing weekly subsistence paperwork for accounting on behalf of field personnel
  • Lead performance appraisal program for employee group
  • Provides ongoing training and support for new and current personnel
  • Lead weekly operations meetings
  • Travels to the field, as required, when crew is short or to oversee and review field work
  • Conducts incident investigations related to field and/or shop work, as required
  • Participates in operations recruiting activities
  • Other duties as required by the Director of Operations – USA

Education & Experience Preferences

  • 10+ years Operations experience, preferably in the pipeline inspection industry
  • High School Diploma; diploma/degree in a related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years field/shop experience; including experience running pipeline inspection tools (asset)
  • Valid Driver License
  • Valid Passport

Skills Required

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
